During their study of World War I, students conducted research on the role of Canada during the War. Each group worked on a different topic, created a mural that identified the key ideas, people, places and/or events. Students presented their murals to their peers in a round-robin format.

Fall Symposium Sponsored by the Rhode Island College
Department of History

Each fall the Rhode Island College Department of History hosts a one-day symposium. The most recent symposium focused on the 150th anniversary of the Civil War with a detailed look at the place of Antietam and role of Emancipation within the war.

In addition to the speakers for the day, local high school students joined faculty and students from RIC in a re-enactment of basic drill formations.

Students perused the Matthew Brady collection of Civil War photographs and learned the significance of photography to the Civil War.
